 BRAZILIAN SHARK PHOTOGRAPHY EXPEDITION

During 2015, PIP Photographer Andy Murch will travel to Sao Luis in Northeastern Brazil. The focus of the expedition will be the daggernose shark which is listed as critically endangered by the IUCN. As little as 10 years ago the Daggernose shark represented roughly 25% of the shark catch in northeastern Brazil but since that time its numbers have diminished drastically to the point where it is seldom encountered.

Live images of this species would be of an immediate benefit to conservation groups working to protect the daggernose shark. With each year that passes,  the chances of successfully documenting this species grow slimmer. Therefore, it is critical that an expedition is mounted as soon as possible in order to provide images to interested conservation groups.

PIP desperately needs to raise a budget for this expedition!
